Avoid Probate Fees

With FALCONAIRE FINANCIAL you can use a wide variety of Segregated Funds to create a custom portfolio diversified by management styles, economic sectors and geography.

Capital guarantees

Segregated Funds provide two types of guarantees: death and maturity. The death benefit will be the greater of the market value of the investment or 100 per cent of all contributions.* Guarantees are less a proportional reduction for fees and withdrawals.

The maturity benefit guarantee provides that after ten years you'll receive the greater of the current market value for the units in your fund or 75% of your contributions, less a proportional reduction for fees and withdrawals. After twenty years the guarantee is 100%.

Please refer to the information folder for complete details of the capital guarantees.
Segregated Funds are suitable for almost every investor. FALCONAIRE FINANCIAL can advise about your Segregated Fund choices.

Segregated Funds are suitable for registered as well as non-registered investment plans.
Registered retirement savings plans (RRSPs) and registered retirement income funds (RRIFs) with FALCONAIRE FINANCIAL can protect your estate and may save your heirs from paying probate fees on segregated fund holdings.

Under an RRSP or RRIF with a life insurance company, as opposed to a bank or trust company (in most provinces), plan proceeds do not form part of the deceased's estate and are not subject to probate fees. This advantage is especially important because of potentially high provincial probate fees in most provinces.

Trustee fees
No trustee fee to establish registered retirement plans.

Transfer fees
No transfer fees when moving money between funds.

Estate bypass
Assets flow directly to the beneficiary, bypassing estate and associated probate fees, when you name a beneficiary.

Potential creditor protection
As insurance contracts, segregated funds offer the opportunity for creditor protection under appropriate circumstances.** In addition to these features, Segregated Funds offer the expertise of multiple investment advisors, including well‑known names such as: AIM Trimark Investments, Bissett Investment Management, Dejardins Global Asset Management, Fidelity Investments Canada Limited, Mackenzie Financial Corporation, Jarislowsky Fraser Limited, Talvest Fund Manegement Inc.

*If you are 80 years old or older when you purchase a Segregated Fund, the death benefit guarantee is 75 per cent of contributions, less proportional reduction for fees and withdrawals
